Bosnian Bruce
The 14th of September 2005
The ethnically divided Bosnian city of Mostar has agreed to erect a new symbol of unity - a statue of the kung-fu legend Bruce Lee, who is worshipped by Muslims, Serbs and Croats.
A group of enthusiasts came up with the idea of honouring Lee on the 30th anniversary of his death in 2003. They launched the project, found donors and waited a year for the city's approval.
Veselin Gatalo, a member of the organisation the Urban Movement, told Reuters Mostar needed a symbol of justice, mastery and honesty - virtues the Chinese-American actor upheld.
